Tomasz Mielke, Esq. and Katarzyna Mełgieś, Esq. participated in the XII International Symposium „Industrial Property in Innovative Economy”, STARTUPS IN THE WORLD OF INNOVATION, held in Cracow on 1 September 2016 and organized by the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland with the support of the World Intellectual Property Organization, the Industrial Development Agency, the University of Science and Technology (AGH), the Jagiellonian University, the Cracow University of Technology, the Kielce University of Technology, the Wrocław University of Science and Technology and the Marshal’s Office the Małopolska Region. Additionally, Katarzyna Mełgieś, Esq. took part in workshops titled “Intellectual Property in the Pharmaceutical-Medical Field” – “Are we innovative?””, organized by the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland and the WIPO as part of the project “Intellectual Property and the Economic and Social Development”.

On 3 June 2016 in Lublin, Katarzyna Mełgieś, PhD shared her views with the participants of the international scientific conference titled “Current Health Law Issues in Central and Eastern Europe” as part of her presentation of the paper titled „Public and Private Entities in Polish Health Care System – Synergy or Competition”. The speaker presented to the participants the currently binding legal basis for the coexistence of private and public entities in Polish health care system and the changes planned in this area.


Conference BIOCHAR IN POLAND

On 30-31 May 2016 in Serock, a conference “BIOCHAR IN POLAND: Science, Technology, Business 2016” took place. It was organized by Biomass Magazine and the Institute of Ceramics and Building Materials. Katarzyna Mełgieś, PhD and Krystyna Malińska, PhD, Eng., from the Częstochowa University of Technology, presented two collaborative papers: „Legal Aspects and Quality Requirements for Biochar Introduced into the Soil,” and „Legal Requirements for the Processing of Sewage Sludge into Biochar” (http://magazynbiomasa.pl/konferencja-biowegiel-polsce-program-wydarzenia/). The speakers aimed at describing the legal status of the new material, i.e. biochar, understood as a result of subjecting the biomass to pyrolysis processes, taking into account the different ways of obtaining it and its applications. Because of its nature, this material seems to be attractive to contemporary innovative ways of coexistence of economy and environment.

In the period from 30 September to 2 October 2015 the 87 annual PTMG (Pharmaceutical Trade Marks Group) Conference took place in Warsaw. Its topic was “A Polish Rhapsody – Stay Tuned in Pharmaceutical Trade Marks”. Katarzyna Mełgieś, Esq. represented the Law Firm at the meeting.

Jaromir Piwowar, Esq. took part in the meeting at the Police Academy in Szczytno, titled „Intellectual Property Infringement via the Internet”. He shared his observations concerning the existing cooperation with the law enforcement authorities in the discussed area.

Dr Katarzyna Miaskowska-Daszkiewicz gave lecture during 21. 21st Annual WAML World Congress (WAML Endorsed), which was held August 2-6, 2015 in Koimbra (Portugal).

 

Dr Miaskowska-Daszkiewicz presented topic „Older People in the Maze of the Health Care System ‐ Polish Experiences” referring to one of the Conference’s panel “Ageing & Health Law”.

Publication of amendment

Publication of a significant amendment to the Act of 30 August 2002, Law on proceedings before administrative courts (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2012, item 270, as amended) in the Journal of Laws under item 658. Newly adopted legal solutions will be in force from 15 August 2015.
